    OUR CHURCH

Hemi Tapu (St James) is the home of the Maori Anglican Mission in Hamilton. This small parish Church has stood where it currently is for over 100 years. Originally it was a Methodist Church and served the small town of Frankton. In the 1980's Hemi Tapu (St James) was purcashed by Te Pihopatanga o Aotearoa (The Maori Anglican Church).

Hemi Tapu (St James) is a Parish Church in Te Hui Amorangi o Te Manawa o Te Wheke, one of the five Hui Amorangi (Maori Diocese's) that make up Te Pihopatanga o Aotearoa (The Maori Anglican Church). We are a part of the wider Anglican Church both here in Aotearoa, New Zealand and throughout the World.

Everyone has a home at Hemi Tapu - Nau mai ra, e hoa! (Welcome, dear friend) We strive to be a welcoming, loving and serving Church in our community. There are many exciting things happening that you can be a part of. Our Sunday services are billingual (Te Reo Maori and English), however, anyone can understand what we are doing!

You are welcome! Nau mai haere mai!
